Malaysia Trek - Sabah Bald Mountain Bukit Botak: Round trip length: 4 hours.

It takes about 30 minutes to drive from Kota Kinabalu to Bukit Botak, which is at an elevation of 1,500 meters above sea level.

If you want to see the sunrise, you need to be at the top by 5am. If you're lucky, you might even see a sea of clouds. The entrance is right next to the road and it takes about an hour to get to the top from here.

This time there was also a "mission" intended to clock four trees--linden tree--octopus tree--climbing vine old tree--strangling banyan tree; however, we only found two out of four trees: "mission failed."

I suggest you go early because if you stay late it will become very hot; therefore, this mountain is called bald mountain. There are some places where the slope is so steep that if you fall down when coming down from the mountain, be extra careful! Personally, I think it's an easy route for beginners to see a sunrise.
